I first heard about the World Race during college, then it was known for it’s “11n11” mission trip, which visited 11 countries in 11 months. You had to be 21 to go on the race and I had a countdown in my phone of when I’d be eligible to apply. Life got busy, as it tends to, and I never pursued the option, but it’s never left my peripheral.

The Lectio 365 morning devotional on December 31st, 2024 asked me, “As I look over the last year of my life, what opportunities have I had to be at work with God in the world? Where have I participated in His work of reconciliation, restoration and re-creation?”

My first thought was realizing that most of my efforts for the Lord in the past year had all been internal and not about serving others. It had been focused on how to improve and better myself for personal gain. I sought the Lord not for the Kingdom, but how He could bless MY life.

I immeadiately thought about my desire to go on the World Race and the constant nudge I have towards it. The opportunity to fully submit to the Lord, and how He has continually allowed this mission to fall on my heart. The age limit for the race is 30 yo. I went from having a count down of eligibility to a count down of when this opportunity would pass me by.

God said, “It’s time.” I heard it so clearly. I responded with a tearful heart, expressing that I heard Him. I knew I had to take this step in obedience.

One response to “It’s Time”
